Importance of Facial Cleansing

Facial cleansing is an essential cosmetic-hygienic procedure and the primary phase in a proper skin care routine. Skin cleansing is the most important element of maintaining healthy skin. Cleansing the skin on a day-to-day basis allows your skin to breathe and regenerate itself faster. Skin cleansing removes dirt accumulated on the surface, dead skin cells, make-up, impurities, surface bacteria, excess oil, and other harmful substances that cause skin pores to clog. Morning cleansing removes toxins the skin eliminates during the night and helps prepare your skin to absorb the beneficial ingredients of face care products and for make-up application. Deep facial cleansing stimulates circulation, removes dead skin cells accumulated on the surface, reduces the pores and fights free radicals that prematurely age skin. Purified skin is clean and refreshed and it is supplied with oxygen better.

Why is so Important to Clean Your Face:

Washing your face with a cleanser should be part of your daily skin care regime because it helps:

  • Remove makeup
  • Eliminate buildup of dead skin cells
  • Remove daily grime and other harmful residues
  • Prevent blocked pores
  • Promote your circulation
  • Let your skin breathe
  • Delay premature aging
  • Prepare the skin to properly receive any topical products you use

Types of Facial Cleansing

The cleanser is a facial care product that is used to remove pollutants from the skin. This helps to unclog pores on the face and prevent skin conditions such as acne and rosacea. The main types of facial cleansing are mechanical cleansing and chemical cleansing. The mechanical cleansing method involves gentle massage actions to scrub the dead cells from the skin surface. The most often used substances are a variety of granules and slowly soluble abrasive materials. Mechanical cleansing helps to stimulate new cell production, creating a firmer and younger skin. Chemical cleaning is done with biologically active ingredients like enzymes and fruit acids. Chemical peeling helps to remove the damaged outer layers of the skin, smooth the texture of the skin and treat skin conditions like acne, melasma and facial blemishes. Chemical peels are also used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Facial cleansers come in the form of bar soap, gels, lotion, creams, and foams. Most of them must be rinsed off after application.

Benefits of Facial Cleansing

  • Soothed, relaxed skin
  • Softened skin texture

Facial Cleanser vs. Soap

Soaps are the most used cleansing agents. Soap does clean skin, but it can remove too much moisture and strip skin’s natural oils away. Facial cleansers have a pH level similar to your skin, and as a result, they remove dirt, oil and makeup without causing dryness.

Cleansers for Different Skin Types

To avoid the appearance of skin problems i t is recommended to choose safe and gentle cleanser that was specially designed for our skin type.

Facial Cleanser for Oily Skin

Good face wash for oily skin has powerful cleansing action to remove oil excess and dirt, without being irritating to the skin. Irritation would result in stimulation of oil glands making them to produce more oil. Oily skin uses oil-free cleansers with a water-based formula. Gel cleansers absorb oil better than the bars or creamy soaps.

Facial Cleanser for Dry Skin

People with dry skin need to keep their skin properly hydrated. Dry-skin will require a cream cleanser that is nourishing and moisturizing. Creamy and oil-based non-foaming facial cleansers dissolve oil and makeup without drying out skin. Alcohol-free and gentle facial cleansers, that have Vitamins A, C and E are good for nourishing dry skin.

Facial Cleanser for Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin should be treated as gently as possible. People with sensitive skin can react easily to fragrance and preservatives. Cream based facial cleansers that are both alcohol and odor free are more suitable for this skin type. Odor-free cleanser containing glycerin and hyaluronic acid or cleansers that have mostly natural ingredients as lavender or olive oil are recommended. Mechanical cleansers such as cleansing grains and brushes and should be avoided.

Facial Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin

Acne cleansers are generally used to remove the impurities, accumulated on the surface without stripping away skin natural emollients. These products remove makeup buildup, cleanse pores and make it easier for acne treatments to be absorbed. Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are the most common active ingredients in cleansers for acne prone skin.

Combination Skin Cleanser

Combination skin needs a cleanser specially designed for this skin type or you need to use two different facial cleansers on the different spots. It is recommended to wash the t-zone area with a glycerin-based cleanser to reduce the hyper-production of oil. The dry areas should be cleaned with gentle, alcohol-free cleanser to prevent the flaky parts. Cleansers that contain chamomile and Aloe Vera are the best option to nourish your skin with the necessary nutrients.

Antibacterial Skin Cleanser

These are medicated cleansers designed to remove bacteria from the skin. These cleansers are often used in hospitals and medical clinics as extra precautions. Some people use antibacterial face washes to reduce the bacteria which cause acne breakouts. Quality antibacterial face wash is mild and does not contain abrasives, so that it does not damage the skin.
